Representative image: You will receive a similar tree. Each bonsai is unique.
Introduction
This Mountain Pine has a sturdy outline and dense needles, presented in a blue oval pot for a compact outdoor display. It is supplied in an approximately 26cm pot.
About this bonsai
The supplied cultivar is valued for needles that develop golden tones in winter before becoming greener in the growing season. The intensity of colour varies with weather and the individual tree.

Position & light
Keep outdoors in a sunny position with good airflow. Allow a newly repotted tree to establish before major styling, and avoid a warm indoor display as its permanent home.
Watering
Check regularly and water thoroughly when the upper soil layer begins to dry. Ensure free drainage; pines dislike persistently saturated roots but must not be allowed to dry out completely.
Feeding & pruning
Feed during active growth following the product instructions. Mountain Pine is a single-flush pine: do not apply Japanese Black Pine decandling methods. Seek species-specific guidance before substantial candle, branch or root work.
Winter care
Keep outdoors and protect the pot during prolonged hard freezes. Shelter from persistent saturation and drying winds while preserving light and airflow.
What you'll receive
One Mountain Pine bonsai in the pot described above. A drip tray is not included unless specifically included in a purchased option. Photographs are representative; trunks, branches, foliage and overall shape vary naturally between trees.
Latin Name: Pinus mugo 'Carsten'
Please note:
Trees
- Image shown is of the actual tree you will receive unless stated otherwise in the actual product's description
- The height given is from the base of the pot to the top of the tree.
- The tree received may be slightly different from the picture. Whilst we try to keep the photos of our trees as up to date as possible, these are live plants and, as such, will continue to grow and change slightly in between the times we take the photos.
Pots
- Some of our Bonsai pots are bought in bulk and unfortunately it's impossible to photograph each single item so the photograph used is taken from one random item of each collection we sell. In 99% of cases this means that any differences won't even be noticeable, however, if you have seen a particular image of a pot that has a certain streak of paint in a certain place, bear in mind that the pot you receive may not be 100% identical to this.
