Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia) Bonsai Tree | Styled | In 15cm Pot
Representative image: You will receive a similar tree. Each bonsai is unique.
Introduction
Soft green foliage and upright growth give Dawn Redwood the character of a miniature woodland tree. The styled outline provides a starting point for careful ongoing refinement. It is supplied in an approximately 15cm pot.
About this bonsai
Unlike evergreen conifers, Dawn Redwood changes colour and sheds its foliage in autumn. Its branching remains on view through winter before fresh growth returns in spring. Vigorous growth offers rewarding opportunities for refinement.
Tree details
- Common name: Dawn Redwood
- Botanical name: Metasequoia glyptostroboides
- Style: Styled
- Pot: Approximately 15cm external width; bonsai pot
- Position: Outdoors
- Foliage: Deciduous conifer

Position & light
Keep outdoors in a bright position with good airflow. Some shade during the hottest part of summer can help limit rapid drying in a shallow pot.
Watering
Keep the root ball evenly moist, checking daily in warm weather and more often if conditions demand it. Water the whole planting thoroughly and allow drainage. Do not let the soil dry out completely.
Feeding & pruning
Feed during active growth following the product instructions. Trim extending shoots to maintain the design, and assess spring repotting according to root growth and the condition of the soil.
Winter care
Seasonal browning and leaf fall are normal. Keep cool outdoors with protection for the pot during prolonged hard freezes. Continue checking moisture while the tree is dormant.
What you'll receive
One Dawn Redwood bonsai in the pot described above. A drip tray is not included unless specifically included in a purchased option. Photographs are representative; trunks, branches, foliage and overall shape vary naturally between trees.
Please note:
Trees
- Image shown is of the actual tree you will receive unless stated otherwise in the actual product's description
- The height given is from the base of the pot to the top of the tree.
- The tree received may be slightly different from the picture. Whilst we try to keep the photos of our trees as up to date as possible, these are live plants and, as such, will continue to grow and change slightly in between the times we take the photos.
Pots
- Some of our Bonsai pots are bought in bulk and unfortunately it's impossible to photograph each single item so the photograph used is taken from one random item of each collection we sell. In 99% of cases this means that any differences won't even be noticeable, however, if you have seen a particular image of a pot that has a certain streak of paint in a certain place, bear in mind that the pot you receive may not be 100% identical to this.
